Interior Paint Schemes

Choosing colour schemes for your home can be a very daunting prospect for some people! More especially when you are inspired by a colour and then are disappointed with the final results as the hue or tone is not quite what you had in mind.

Paint manufacturers introduced miniature paint sample pots some years ago as well as the opportunity to mix paint colours to your requirements as a way to help reduce ‘disasters’ for the average DIY person.

The same principles can also be applied when choosing fabrics for window treatments are soft furnishings. Many high street and online retailers will supply swatches of fabrics to help you get exactly what you want.

Another great advantage of asking for swatches is that you will also be able to see and feel the quality of the fabric being offered. This can potentially save you time and more importantly money!

Colour charts are also available for paints and are a good starting point to finding the colour you require, after making a decision the next step is to try the sample pots and actually paint the colour onto your wall. Allow it to dry and revisit to look at the colour at different times during the day and evening. The colour will no doubt alter as light enters the room at different strengths, watch out for shadow casting and see whether you still like the colour!
